Pumpkin Carving!

Tonight we carved our pumpkin with our little pumpkin, and she absolutely loved the messy slime! I just had to share a few pics of her discovering pumpkin guts for the first time :)

Paisley, Projects, & 31 Weeks

We are gearing up for Halloween over here! Tonight we are planning on carving our pumpkin, and doing some last minute costume shopping for myself and Laila. I have purchased two costumes for Laila, one being a kitten costume that is too small, and another a zebra costume that she HATES. So while I was waiting for her to get up for her nap, I at least dressed up our dog Paisley who's always willing to participate if it involves treats and pats :)

Yesterday we finished up some final projects in Camden's room, and hung his shelf, and pictures that I purchased from Etsy! It turned out okay, but I wish I would've gotten different frames. Maybe they will grow on me.

Chris also finally finished painting the kitchen bulkheads! They were a horrible navy blue faded color that we had been putting on repainting ever since we moved in because they are so high and hard to get to...but we finally did it and it makes such a huge difference! I wish I had a before picture...

As far as my 31 week update, there really isn't much to report. I am thankfully feeling so much better since my scare last weekend! I have a doctors appointment next week so I will do another official update then with my stats :) I'm going to be 8 months pregnant next week! How did that happen? Time is flying right on by!

A Trip to the Hospital

It's been a pretty awful last few days around here, that included an overnight stay at the hospital in the ER and Labor & Delivery.
I started having stomach pains on Thursday morning along with a little bit of nausea. So I called my doctor, because the pains were awfully sharp on one side, and I googled "pain in abdomen, 32 weeks pregnant" and let me tell ya...a pregnant girl should NEVER google symptoms. Anyways, they took my symptoms, thought I was fine, and basically said rest and hydrate blah blah. So I actually was feeling a little better by Thursday evening. Well overnight was an entirely different story. I'll skip the gory details but it involved a LOT of trips to the bathroom, including some of the most terrible vomiting I've ever experienced. This is totally too much TMI, but if you've ever thrown up with a giant belly before, you know what I mean...your stomach muscles are pretty much non existent and it freaking hurts. So after a long sleepless night, and a long day of being sick on Friday, hardly being able to keep anything down including water...Chris drove me and Laila to Anacortes to stay with my parents because he had to work all weekend, and I couldn't take care of myself...let alone a 14 month old!
Friday night was even worse, and at 1:30am it was time to head to the hospital. Again, I'll spare the gory details but I can honestly not remember a time where I've ever been so incredibly sick. So my mom (who is amazing by the way) took me to the hospital. They saw me waddle in with my belly, and heard the words "abdominal pain" and I was swooped over to labor and delivery to make sure the baby was ok, and to make sure I wasn't in preterm labor. That was the best part of the whole experience. I got to lay in a surprisingly comfortable bed and listen to Camden's beautiful heartbeat for well over an hour! Pure bliss :) He is super healthy and I wasn't having any contractions thank goodness, so I was taken back to the ER. After blood work, and some other tests, they discovered I have a terrible urinary tract infection! I was shocked because I didn't have any of those classic symptoms! But apparently its extremely rare to have symptoms if you're pregnant so there's no way I could've known. Also, I have an intestinal virus and was extremely dehydrated (I wasn't surprised) so I got a lot of medicine in my IV, a ton of IV fluids, some antibiotics, and was basically monitored overnight.
I have been steadily feeling better over the last couple of days, and am back home now. Being sick when you're pregnant sucks, but I am so grateful that Camden is ok, and I am ok as well! My mom and dad took very good care of me, and of course Laila was thrilled to spend all kinds of time at Nana and Grampa's house :) She was happy to entertain me while I recovered, and always makes everything better!

30 Weeks

I had my 30 week appointment today and we are officially into the single digit countdown!!! 9 weeks to go! How is that even possible?! The time has absolutely flown by and I was in total disbelief as I sat and filled out my hospital paperwork for the big day. I am so excited and anxious to meet Camden! One thing that came up at my appointment was the horrible experience I had with my spinal anesthesia during my C-section with Laila. Not to scare anyone, but the spinal was waaaaaay to high and I was numb up to my eyebrows, which caused me to not be able to lift my arms to hold my sweet baby girl for hours after delivery, but my mouth, eyes, and throat were completely numb as well which made it hard to see, speak and caused major anxiety because I couldn't feel myself breathing. I was in recovery for approximately 5 hours instead of the usual 1 hour. My doctor suggested I have an anesthesia consult in the next couple of weeks to discuss my options, because I would hate to have a repeat experience. Yikes. Other than that, Cam and I checked out just fine and everything is right on track. The big day will be Dec 23rd unless I go into labor or my water breaks sooner :) SO EXCITED!

How Far Along: 30 Weeks
Weight Gain: 31 lbs....time to lay off the sweets :( Even though my doctor assured me today that the number doesn't really matter, and kindly told me I was looking great...I know how hard it is to lose it afterward. Even if it's so much fun to gain it during ;) Food just tastes so good!
Gender: Boy!
Cravings: I have had a MAJOR craving lately for Olive Garden salad. Mmmmmm
Maternity Clothes: Even my maternity clothes are getting a little tight!
Looking Forward To: Having my anesthesia consult, hoping that it eases my mind.
Getting Our Live's Ready: We have gotten so much done already! Last on the list is some online shopping for a baby monitor, another pack n play, and some other little random stuff but we are feeling so ready and excited! I would love to have all of my Christmas shopping done by Dec 1st too so we can just enjoy the last few weeks of being a family of 3...but we will see how that plan goes...

Camden's Nursery

That's right! We are naming our little boy Camden! I know I posted earlier that we were going to keep his name a secret because people can say the dumbest things when talking about naming a baby...but I really wanted to share his nursery pics and we love his name so much that at this point nothing could change our minds! He's our little Cam the Man and we can't wait to meet him. 

As I talked about in an earlier blog post, I made these letters from a tutorial I found on the What's Up Moms YouTube channel! Super easy and SO much more affordable than the ones from Anthropologie. Plus they are super light-we literally hung them with tape!

I know...I totally need to iron the crib skirt.....And that's our City Mini GT Double stroller in the corner :)

Oh how I adore Aden & Anais swaddle blankets! A few of these I used with Laila :) 

 This toy chest was a gift from my parents :) They bought Laila a similar style bookshelf as well when we were expecting her.

A good diaper caddy is an absolute must in our house! We still use Laila's every single day, all day long! It's so nice to have everything in one place and organized.

 I fell in love with this crib sheet from Pottery Barn Kids, and used it as a theme to decorate the rest of the nursery. Little Man onsie is from Target...I still can't believe we have a Little Man on the way!

 Today I washed and organized all of Camden's clothes. He already has so many clothes! Mostly 3 month size because, as I learned with Laila, they grow out of newborn size so fast, if they even wear them at all! 

We got so much done today, I am one tired mama! I have been so incredibly nervous and anxious about Camden's arrival and how it's going to change our lives. Everyone keeps telling me, "You're going to be SO BUSY" Well duh, people! That's what happens when you have babies 16 months apart! But you know what? As I spent the whole day nesting, I have never felt so incredibly blessed in my entire life. I have the most amazing, loving, incredible husband...a daughter who has my whole heart wrapped around her little finger, and another baby on the way...my little boy. Wow life is good, and I needed a day like today to stop and smell the roses. And they smell pretty damn good :)

Fall & Halloween Randomness (is that even a word?)

Happy Sunday Funday! I have gotten behind of posting my belly pics and totally spaced it on my 29 week post...there's not much to update. I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday (30 weeks! Yay!) so I will post then with my official stats :)

 

We are in full force organization mode over here and all my spare time has been spent cleaning out closets and organizing cupboards. I think I'm nesting ;) Tomorrow my parents are going to watch Laila and we are going to spend the entire day doing projects around here like finishing painting the kitchen, cleaning all the carpets, cleaning out the garage, and finishing up the nursery. I CAN. NOT. WAIT until the nursery is done and I can share pics! Hopefully this week.

 

In addition to nesting, I finally finished getting out all my Fall/Halloween decorations!

 It really isn't much, but being 7 1/2 months pregnant with a 14 month old, this felt like a lot! Haha

In addition to this, we have outside decorations that include orange lights along our deck, a Halloween ghost flag, and of course a ton of pumpkins on the front porch. We are hoping to carve them sometime this week.

I have been burning this candle all week that is making my house smell absolutely delish! I also picked up some festive hand soap at Bath and Body Works today. OMG their fall scents are to die for this year! Especially since I'm craving pumpkin spice everything.

 

I had big aspirations for dressing Laila up for Halloween this year and bought the most adorable kitten costume EVER. Turns out its waaaaay too small. CRAP. So when we did a big shopping trip at Babies R' Us last week, we picked up a cute zebra costume. Turns out that is on the small side too, and she won't even put it on, to boot! So we will see what actually happens come Halloween. I was also hoping she would be walking, but no such luck in that department either. She is an expert with her Fisher Price walker...maybe dress her like an old woman?

Pumpkin Patch

Today we made our way to Stoney Ridge Farm in Everson, WA to the cutest, most fun pumpkin patch in Whatcom county (in our opinion of course ;) My parents came with us, which was so much fun! The weather was sunny and 70 degrees which is practically unheard of for October in Washington!

The owners do such a great job of decorating everything and turning their farm into a festive Fall Wonderland! There were a ton of opportunities for some great photos and practice with our new camera.

 

There are horses, chickens, pigs, goats, and a donkey among other animals that Laila LOVED. I wasn't sure if she would think much of the animals, but she was laughing and smiling at everything except for the geese who here honking at her, which scared her and we almost saw some tears! 

After seeing everything there was to see, we picked out some awesome pumpkins for carving, and decorations and made our way back home. Overall it was a pretty perfect day :) 



28 Weeks

Hello Third Trimester! I had my 28 week appointment today, and conveniently forgot to do my stupid glucose test before I went. I think I put it off for so long, it completely slipped my mind. Its been a tough last week or so. I've been so completely exhausted. Like, first trimester exhausted and have had a TON of Braxton Hicks contractions, pretty much anytime I do anything other than sit my growing butt on the couch. Other than that and the heartburn, I've been feeling good, and have especially been sleeping good, which is a huge blessing :) I officially start going to the doctor every other week and we will schedule my C-section at the next appointment! Makes it all seems so real, and so close! Yikes!

 

How Far Along: 28 Weeks
Weight Gain: 27 lbs.......OMG.
Gender: Boy
Craving: I wish I had some cravings! For the past week or so, nothing sounds good. I hate that.
Maternity Clothes: Starting to outgrow my maternity jeans?! Say whaaa?
Looking Forward To: The holidays coming up, because hopefully that will make the time seem to go faster! Come on December!
Getting Our Lives Ready: We recently got a few more things for our baby boy. We still have some decorating to do in his room. I am working on a nursery post for next week to show what we've done so far!
Feeling:  Baby boy
kicking and rolling all day long. I'd forgotten how much I love that :) Pretty exhausted lately too, but oh so happy :)

MOPS and a Makeover

I got my haircut! Woop woop! I absolutely love it, and it was just the change I was needing to help with my "frump grump bump" as my husband calls my belly. He also tells me "the bigger the bump, the bigger the grump". I do have to say, I have been a little grumpy lately, but maybe this haircut will be just the ticket to turn my frown upside down!

It's also super blonde which I'm kind of loving!

 

Are you sick of my dorky selfies in the same maternity clothes over and over and over and over again yet? I know I am. Which brings me to my next topic...We bought a new camera! After much research we decided on the Sony APS-C. Super spendy, but super nice. I can't wait to really sit down and do some research on everything this camera can do! We also bought Photoshop which neither of us has used before. We figured it was time to upgrade since we have two big little reasons why we are going to need a camera in our hands all the time :) 

 

And lastly, today was my first MOPS meeting! I signed up on a couple of girlfriend's recommendations and I absolutely loved it! I am the biggest baby when it comes to Laila though...it's kind of ironic that one of the topics today was bravery, because last night I literally laid in bed and contemplating bagging the whole idea all together because I didn't want to drop Laila off in her little classroom. So over protective, I know but all the horrible scenerios of "what if she cries and wonders where I am?" or "what if another kid is mean to her?" or "what if the teachers are mean and she gets scared?" were running through my hormonal pregnant brain and I almost had a panic attack.

So nervously, we made our way to her classroom this morning. I gently set her down, my mama bear arms ready and waiting to scoop her back up at the first whimper and you know what she did? My brave little girl turbo crawled to the nearest bucket of toys and happily started playing.

I nervously told her teacher that I was our first time at MOPS, come and get me if she cries at all yadda yadda and she looked at Laila, then looked at me and said, "Well honey, she looks like she's doing just fine..." in an "OMG you are such a first time mommy" tone. So I made my way out, and resisted the urge to sneak a peak at her for the whole two hours. I mean, come on, she was right down the hall. UGH, I cannot even imagine dropping her off at real school for the first time. Thank goodness we have a few years! When I went to pick her up after the meeting, she was all snuggled in on one of the teachers lap reading a book. She did great :) I was very proud of us.

 

I am a little behind on my bumpdates, mostly out of pure laziness and exhaustion but I'm going to get all caught up this week! I have my 28 week appointment tomorrow, then on Thursday we are off to the pumpkin patch! So more on that in a couple of days.

Cannon Beach

Ahhhhh, Mama needed a vacay. We are back from Cannon Beach and had an AMAZING time! My parents watched Laila, and I was more than a little nervous and sad leaving her for the first time since I've only been away from her for a few hours at the most. Chris and I went down to Anacortes for the night on Sunday, so we wouldn't have to drop her off super early on Monday morning. It was absolute torture trying to put her to bed. She is usually such a good happy sleeper. Normally I lay her down in her crib while she's awake- she plays and settles in for a few minutes, then goes right to sleep. For some reason, my girl was NOT happy to say the least and cried crocodile tears every time I tried to lay her down. An hour and a half, and 4 attempts later, she finally went to sleep but this didn't do anything to calm my nerves about leaving her. I was ready to cry crocodile tears myself!
Chris and I left bright and early Monday morning, and made our first stop in Astoria, OR at The Goonie's house!!!!

I have to say I was quite tempted to do the "truffle shuffle" and yell "Hey you guuuuuys!" the whole time we were there, but we played it cool. It was so neat to see this iconic house, and it looks just like it did in the movie!
After geeking out for about 20 minutes, we made our way back to the car, and hit the road to the beach! We arrived around 4pm, and after checking into our adorable hotel made our way to Cannon Beach!

I couldn't get my toes in the water fast enough!

Chris and I ate at some amazing little restaurants, checked out the local shops and were blown away by how friendly the locals were. We also did a lot of laying around, which was so relaxing. Tuesday night we went to the movies and saw This is Where I Leave You which was so great, and I totally recommend it! We easily could've stayed another night, but sadly had to make our way back home. Plus I was dying to see my baby girl!
We got back to Anacortes to go pick up Laila around 5pm on Wednesday, and I had visions of my girl doing her "turbo crawl" as fast as she could into my arms but to my absolute shock and hurt feelings, she was so mad at me! She literally wouldn't even look at me. She crawled right to Chris, and got super fussy and whiney for the next 45 minutes or so. I was so sad! Any of you other mamas experience this after leaving for a few days? I'm happy to report that she did get over it, and is back to being the mama's girl that she usually is, but O.M.G. Point taken Laila bug, point taken. ;) Never leave again...well...until mama needs another vacay ;)
